How Kareo Clinical and athenaOne Correlate

Despite the fact that the healthcare industry has a reputation for being slow to adapt to new technology and paradigms, there are some doctors out there who see the value in change and make an effort to accommodate it.

The challenge is that these changes are often forced upon small practices by government regulations or larger hospitals, which makes them difficult to adopt without substantial investment. So here is a more critical look at two different medical software systems—Kareo Clinical and athenaOne. In this blog post you’ll explore how these two systems correlate.

About athenaOne

athenaOne is an integrated solution that organizes the moment of care, performs administrative and quality services to ensure full payment, and tracks all physician orders so doctors can focus on what they do best. It employs modern technologies such as telehealth services, patient portals and online scheduling to improve patient experience.

athenaOne is a cloud-based clinical and financial solution that helps healthcare practices and organizations manage their operations. athenaOne Limitations

While the athenaOne platform is undoubtedly a step up from most EHRs, it still has its limitations. The system’s patient messaging bugs can be frustrating and their support team’s responses are often indirect and evasive.

Additionally, in-house claims management is required on top of the services provided by Kareo Clinical if you want to manage your own accounts receivable (A/R). This can add an extra layer of complexity that may not be necessary for small practices that don’t need these additional resources.

Kareo Billing Limitations

In terms of limitations, there’s no denying that Kareo Billing has its fair share of flaws. For starters, it doesn’t provide robust reporting features. Secondly, it also lacks a strong patient eligibility feature which means you can’t easily filter out the patients who are not eligible for reimbursement. Lastly, scheduling functionality doesn’t allow you to view periodical appointments once a patient has checked out and this means that you might miss something important like pre-authorization checks before processing an insurance claim.

The solution also lacks the built-in time limit feature to fill insurance claims on time which could lead to penalties and fines from your clients or even worse – get shut down by your client’s insurance company altogether if they find out about what happened!
